Peter Danatzis – Certified Meditation Teacher Transforming Stress into Stillness

Peter Danatzis, a certified meditation teacher based in Victoria, discovered meditation during a time when life felt overwhelmingly busy. Like many, he found himself caught up in the distractions of everyday life—constantly thinking about the future or dwelling on the past. It was this realisation that led him to seek mindfulness, hoping to find a way to slow down and embrace the present moment.

“I was always stressing about what was next, never fully enjoying the now. Meditation gave me the tools to change that,” Peter shares.

Peter’s search for a structured, supportive learning environment led him to the Australian Centre for Meditation and Mindfulness (ACMM). He enrolled in the Certificate in Guiding and Teaching Meditation and Mindfulness, where he was mentored by Tim James. The experience deepened his understanding and gave him the confidence to begin teaching.

“The mentoring was the most valuable part of my studies. My mentors were so open and accepting, creating a space where I felt comfortable being vulnerable,” Peter says. “One day, I’d love to become a mentor at ACMM myself.”

Launching My Mindful Journey

Inspired by his own transformation, Peter founded My Mindful Journey, where he now guides others on their paths to mindfulness. His offerings include in-person meditation groups, guided meditation walks in nature, and one-on-one sessions via Zoom or at clients’ homes.

Peter’s meditation group is growing, initially attracting close family and friends, but he’s excited to expand his reach. His upcoming sessions in Viewbank mark the next steps in his teaching journey.

Lessons from Teaching Meditation

Reflecting on his growth as a certified meditation teacher, Peter offers advice to those just starting out:

  • Every journey is unique. “There’s no ‘right’ way to practice mindfulness—it’s about developing a routine that works for you.”
  • Self-compassion is key. Inspired by Tara Brach’s Radical Compassion, Peter emphasizes the importance of quieting the inner critic and embracing self-acceptance.
  • Success isn’t measured by numbers. “For me, success isn’t about how many clients I have; it’s about setting the intention to help others.”

Growing a Mindfulness BusinessCertified Meditation Teacher Peter in Nature

Peter is actively working on expanding his reach through his website and new social media accounts. He plans to experiment with online advertising and grow his presence on Insight Timer by sharing guided meditations.

“Putting myself out there is scary. The fear of failure is real, but I remind myself that success is simply having the courage to try.”

Looking Ahead

With a baby on the way in April 2025, Peter is taking life one day at a time. Once he builds a stronger client base, he hopes to pursue the ACMM Diploma to deepen his skills and receive additional mentorship.

For now, he’s focused on sharing meditation in an accessible, meaningful way—helping others discover, just as he did, that they are enough just as they are.
