5 ways to market your meditation business without social media

Social media can be a really useful marketing tool but it is not the only way to market your meditation and mindfulness business. There are many ways to share your gifts with the world that have been around for much longer than social media and have the possibility of generating higher engagement! 

This month Lauren Howe shares 5 ways you can get your meditation and mindfulness business out in the world without using social media. Lauren is on the ACMM Marketing team, and is a Meditation Mentor and Teacher.

1. Basic Meditation Business Marketing – Handing out flyers

Perhaps a very old school method but tried and tested nonetheless. Consider printing flyers and handing them out in your community. Before you go placing them in any old place consider where your ideal client would be spending time or hanging out. Perhaps it is a particular cafe, a gym or retail store. Once you have a list of possible places then hit the street with your flyers!

It can also be a great opportunity to get to know the local businesses in your community. Take time to share a little about yourself and the offerings you have with the staff or business owners.

In addition to leaving flyers with local businesses find out where the local community notice boards are. Pop your flyers up there too.

Don’t forget asking friends and family to take some flyers to their workplaces too. This can be a great way to attract new clients!

Canva is a graphic design platform, used to create social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents and other visual content. If you can choose eco friendly printing options such as recycled paper and vegetable based inks.

2. Reach out to businesses and people that inspire you

When you collaborate with other like minded businesses you have the opportunity to also access and share your gifts with their existing client base (and they get to share their gifts with yours!). Collaboration may come in many different forms too. It might mean holding your classes or workshops at a local business such as a cafe, a yoga studio or a gym. Alternatively it could be jointly running a class, workshop or retreat with another business/individual.

Before choosing who you want to collaborate with think about whether your values are aligned and how your offerings will complement theirs (and vice versa).

It can be easy to slip into a one sided mindset when marketing your meditation business. Don’t think about how the collaboration will benefit you solely. Engaging in true heart centered collaboration which ultimately benefits both parties and clients!

3. Share your offerings on other platforms

There are lots of platforms already out with huge audience followings that will host your content and share it with their followers. Some platforms that come to mind include Insight Timer, Youtube, Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud.

By uploading your content such as recorded meditations or videos you have the potential to market your business to their subscribers.

Platforms such as Insight Timer not only host your recorded meditations but they also offer functionality to host live meditations, paid audio courses and meditation mentoring too! This is a very cost effective way to improve your meditation business marketing.

4. Guest post on other blogs

Guest posting is where you write content for another company’s website. By doing this you can attract new clients to your website and hopefully get more engagement with your business offerings. Guest posting can also help increase your business’s brand credibility. It increases awareness of your business and open up opportunities for collaboration and networking within your industry.

Ideally, guest post on industry websites that would attract your ideal client. It can also be useful to choose companies that have high credibility. those that generate good engagement with their blogs, have a high google ranking and are complementary to what you offer in your business.

Keep in mind that guest posting often requires that you provide fresh new content that you have not posted on your own website, that the blog is written in line with their standards and is something their audience would want to read. You will find that most companies will provide you with this information before you commence writing a blog for them.

5. Be an expert speaker

As an ACMM graduate you can be confident that you are an expert in the field of meditation and mindfulness! With that in mind there are plenty of podcasts looking for speakers like you. When you speak on a podcast or at an event you instantly get access to podcast listeners and a new audience.

As always, it can help to be discerning by finding the shows that are relevant to you and your offerings.

You might reach out directly to a podcast and let them know you would love to be on their show or alternatively you can go through a third party platform such as Poddit or Podcast Guests. This is again, a very cost effective and fun way to engage in meditation business marketing.
