Penny realized her next step was to become a Meditation Teacher

Penny is a retired Early Childhood teacher who lives in a coastal town in Victoria with her family. She shared, “The coastal environment has been a huge part of our lives. We love to walk, bike ride, surf, and swim together.” Initially interested in learning about meditation to incorporate into her early childhood teaching, Penny soon realized it was a true passion and something she wanted to pursue further.

How Penny transitioned from Early Childhood Educator to Meditation Teacher

Penny shared with us that it has been quite a journey since retiring from Early Childhood teaching and starting her own meditation business. She’s learned a lot about running a small business and found joy in teaching adults. On a personal level, meditation has become her way of nurturing and supporting herself, helping her to accept who she is and be present with her loved ones. It’s been a beautiful gift, allowing her to stop, be still, and embrace life with gentleness and kindness.

Penny told us that she holds meditation classes both in her garden and at a local retirement village, finding immense joy in meditating amidst nature. She has discovered that being in nature helps people switch off and stay present, and she values the connections formed not only with nature but also between participants. To nurture these connections, she keeps her classes small and cherishes the time after each session to share herbal tea from her Grandmother’s China cups and a homemade treat. This post-meditation time allows for reflection and creates a special, safe space where clients feel truly nurtured.

Her confidence has grown since completing ACMM’s Diploma course

Penny shared with us that the Diploma was “a wonderful and enriching experience,” providing her with invaluable support and guidance as she developed her meditation teachings and business. She appreciated how “connecting with Lisa and other Diploma students on a regular basis” allowed her to learn, be supported, and embrace new approaches. The Diploma also encouraged her to reflect positively on her practice, helping her “see my strengths, successes, and be open to trying something different.”

We are excited to introduce ACMM Certified Meditation Teacher Penny Horne and celebrate her inspiring journey.
